During February, our thoughts turn to romance as we prepare for Valentine's Day. For those who are still looking for a significant other, or those wanting to warm up their relationship, this time of year can be somewhat stressful. We tend to think about what we can purchase to make a difference in our love lives- a new outfit, a fancy restaurant reservation, gift baskets, floral arrangements, and so on. But the most important aspect to better relationships is too often overlooked - it's right in our own homes. Feng Shui principles can assist you to attract romantic relationships or to improve the ones that you have.
This is the perfect time to look at how your home can improve your romantic outlook. Within our living spaces, and within each room, there is an area that oversees relationships. It is located either in the south-west corner of your house, or in the far right corner of the home when you are standing at the front door. You should make sure that the objects in these spaces are conducive to romance. Often people have a single chair, or a piece of art depicting a solitary figure. Or worse, the romance corners are missing or completely bare!
Home-made romance, Feng Shui style, can be as simple as re-arranging some furniture and bringing some enhancements to the area. If there is art on the walls, look for a pair of pictures that shows couples, or a romantic setting, or floral arrangements. Try to have something in either red and white, or pink located here. Avoid peach colours- these support a wandering eye. It is best to have objects grouped in pairs - never have three-somes. Adding a live plant, such as a pair of bamboo stalks, and a pair of candles, should add some sparkle to your important relationships.
The layout of your bedroom is particularly important in supporting romance in your life. Take time to remove any clutter and organize the room so that it is a beautiful, harmonious space that you want to rest and retreat in. If you can, put your bed into the romance corner. Place a pair of plush red pillows on it. Relocate all the gadgets that can get in the way of romance. The presence of your TV, computer, exercise equipment, for instance, can be a real distraction to your being able to connect in a meaningful way to your partner.
So this Valentine's Day, don't leave your love life to Cupid. Take these simple home-made steps to create the romance you want!
