Feng Shui and Health
For Burnout and Chronic Fatigue Sufferers: Sleep you way to Better Health

Note: Tone article Jan 04, 2005

Feng Shui is an ancient eastern philosophy which is becoming increasingly known in North America. By gently harmonizing the energies in your home or office, it can support you in achieving your goals. And that includes better health and prospects for the future, along with improvements in interpersonal relationships, wealth, job satisfaction and inner peace.

How does Feng Shui work? Both you and your environment are made up of energy (chi). There is a constant interaction between your own chi frequencies and those of the environments, objects and people that you associate with. When you are in a space that has balanced energies, you can sense it and you feel better. In addition, certain aspects of your health, such as the immune system, and each organ, correspond to a part of your living space. And certain structural factors in your home, such as low ceilings or exposed beams, can impact on your health. If your body is prone to depression, for instance, you will want to use Feng Shui adjustments to mitigate these structural elements in your home or office.

In addition to making adjustments on your property and each room of your house, Feng Shui will suggest certain exercises or meditations to bring about an improvement in your health. It will also suggest the use of certain colours depending on your condition. For example, when your immune system has been compromised, put something that is yellow and/or red as close as possible to the center of your bedroom for 9 days. It could be a comforter, or tablecloth, or a yellow or red light bulb. After 9 days, remove this first item and replace it with something that is white. During this same time, make an extra effort to wear clothing in the corresponding colour, and to eat food of the same colour.

There are also transcendental cures that are used in Black Hat Tantric Feng Shui. These cures have been brought to North America by Grandmaster Lin Yun Rinpoche, of the Yin Lun Buddhist Temple in San Francisco. In the case of burnout and chronic fatigue, it is recommended that three bamboo flutes be placed in your bed, between the mattress and the box spring. The positioning of the flutes is shown in the diagram. This should increase your vitality. It is a perfect complementary treatment for chronic fatigue sufferers, since so much time is spent in bed.

It should be stressed that Feng Shui should never be used as a substitute for Western or Eastern alternative medicine. Rather, it works at a more subtle, spiritual level and should be used as a complement to traditional medical treatments. It is more effective if the patient has confidence in the methodology. So pick up a book at the bookstore or library, or surf the web, and learn more about this remarkable modality.
