This is the time of year when we trade in our leisure time for hours spent back in an office or school setting. And for many of us, this is increasingly difficult. Today's fast work pace is often characterized by constant interruptions, long hours and lack of control over how we tackle our jobs. All this with little encouragement or praise from our superiors. Eventually, we find ourselves not being able to give our best either at work or to our families, as the job stress spills over into our personal lives.
The ancient art of Feng Shui can assist us in becoming more empowered, happy and productive in our work, just as it supports us in our homes. Even if all that you have at work is a desk, you can take control of your situation from an energetic perspective. As you align your work space with the invisible (but still present!) forces of nature, you will change the way you feel. This, in turn, will change the circumstances and opportunities that you come your way.
The first consideration is the way that the desk is placed in the room. In order to be in the most commanding position, you should be sitting so that you are facing the door or opening into your cubicle. If you can position the desk so that it is on the diagonal, thereby giving you a sweeping view of the entire office space, so much the better! Try it and see how much more you feel on top of your work.
If you have no option but to have your back to the door, it is like driving without a rearview mirror. You don't have a clear sense of what is happening around you. In a work setting, this can result in your being caught out by unforeseen circumstances. To offset this, place a mirror on the wall behind the desk, so that you could see what is coming at you through the door. If this is not possible, put a small mirror, such as a shaving mirror, on top of the desk- preferably in the far left corner of the desk (this will also enhance your wealth corner).
The type of desk is also very important. If your desk is located similar to those shown in the diagram, a wooden desk is best. It supports you in attracting greater abundance and in becoming more well-known for the work that you do. If you have a metal desk, it would be important to place as many wooden objects as you can on or near the desk. If this is impossible, hang a painting or poster with images of a forest, or wooden building, on the wall near the desk.
There are also some important adjustments that you can make to improve specific situations. For instance, if you want more support in climbing up the career ladder, add something in black, or a water feature, to the space in your office that corresponds to position C on the diagram. Examples of a water feature include a tabletop water fountain, or a mirror (with a black metal frame). This would also be a good place to hang your diplomas or any rewards and recognition certificates or photos.
Relationships with your boss can be improved by paying attention to what is located in the spot in your office that corresponds to position B in the diagram. If it is either empty, or cluttered with an assortment of paper or objects, it is probably indicative of how well you get along. Make this corner one that looks beautiful, adding a couple of earthenware or ceramic items, such as book ends, or a couple of healthy plants in earthenware pots.
And when you are making the adjustments, take a moment to thank the Creator for all the blessings that you already have, and tell the universe what new results you would like to attract into your life. You will be pleasantly surprised at the difference that this attention to energy details will make!
